ARS Easteern USA 93rd Regional Convention
(Philadelphia / USA, July, 20, 2013)
The Armenian Relief Society’s 93rd convention focused on assisting Syrian Armenians affected by the war. The convention was disturbed to hear that presently thousands of Armenian Families in Syria are struggling to buy food as food prices have skyrocketed to unprecedented levels. During this period of extreme need, over 400 Armenian families in Syria, specifically in Aleppo, have been identified by the ARS of Syria as being in dire need of immediate relief funding. Acting quickly, the convention adopted a resolution to start a program to “Sponsor a Syrian Armenian Family” at the cost of $1200 for each family annually.
The ARS Eastern Region is committed to stand by our Syrian brothers and sisters living in areas of conflict. In response to the news from friends and relatives that are affected, and in support of the passage of the new resolution, delegates and Eastern USA ARS chapters pledged over $17,750 in less than 30 minutes.
We urge all the Armenian communities to help us continue our relief efforts, act quickly and join us by supporting our new “Sponsor a Syrian Armenian Family” campaign.
